As part of the optimisation, the Royal Decree of 14 November 2006 on the organisation and competences of the Federal Police was amended. The new decree, published in the Belgian Official Gazette on 3 September 2014, unveiled the structure and functioning of the brand new Federal Police. It came into force on 1 October.
