14 November 2014Ceremony at the Column of Congress

Belgium’s fallen gendarmes and policemen from the First World War were nationally commemorated at the Column of Congress in Brussels.

The police had delegated five members of the Mounted Trumpeters Corps, three mounted police members on foot to escort the flag of the Federal Police, a Federal Police platoon on foot and two platoons of the Brussels Police School. Six motorcycle officers of Brabant’s Traffic Police also attended the ceremony. The Integrated Police was represented by Claude Fontaine, General Director of the Judicial Police (DGJ), and Jean-Marie Brabant, chairman of the Local Police Standing Committee.

The speeches, flowers, rekindling of the flame and signing of the “golden book” made this commemoration ceremony a very moving event.
