Together with their Czech, British and German colleagues, the Federal Judicial Police of East Flanders investigated – as part of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) – into a Czech and Albanian criminal organisation which trafficked Albanian individuals with no valid Schengen residence documents to Great Britain via Belgium.

The JIT identified 19 transports of illegal immigrants; 13 of them were intercepted near the Channel Tunnel either in Calais or in Dover. More than 100 victims were identified. They had to pay 500 to 6 000 British pounds for the crossing.

On 23 February 2015, a last transport was intercepted. Eight smugglers were arrested.
