Tachograph fraud

On 26 March 2015, the Federal Highway Police conducted together with Centrex – the Police Knowledge and Expertise Centre in the field of traffic enforcement – a tachograph control operation on the Brussels ring road and the E19 highway in the provinces of Flemish Brabant and Walloon Brabant. During this operation, 42 lorries were controlled and 11 cases of fraud were discovered. Fifteen members of the Federal Highway Police participated in the operation.

The fight against road accidents involving heavy goods vehicles is one of the priorities of the Federal Police. Tachograph fraud seriously impacts road safety, driver’s social situation and competition between transport companies. The aim of this operation was to crack down on fraudsters and send a positive signal to those drivers and companies who do their best to comply with the law.
