Still too many motorists caught by speed cameras

The Federal Police organised its third speed control marathon operation in cooperation with local police zones. From Thursday 23 April 6am until Friday 24 April 6am, federal and local police units carried out speed controls throughout Belgium. The purpose of this operation was to incite motorists to ease up on the gas pedal and to raise their awareness of the dangers of excessive speed. A total of 80 members of the Federal Highway Police and 105 members of local police zones took part in this marathon operation.
Some figures on controls with mobile speed cameras:
- Number of mobile devices: 582
- Number of controlled vehicles: 262,230
- Number of fines subject to immediate payment: 16,855
- Number of licence suspensions: 62
