The Tour de France passes through Belgium

Cycling enthusiasts were overjoyed as two stages of ‘la Grande Boucle’ were held in our country. The Coordination and Support Directorate of the Federal Police of Liège was responsible for coordinating all police services from the provinces of Antwerp, Walloon Brabant, Hainaut, Namur, as far as the Federal Police is concerned, and from the Highway Police services of Antwerp, Liège, Brabant, Hainaut and Namur. The police zones that were involved in the organisation are Antwerp, Huy and Seraing-Neupré.
The third stage, from Antwerp to Huy, over a distance of 159.5 km, went through five provinces and sixteen police zones. Eight hundred police officers were deployed to ensure safety.
The fourth stage, which took place the next day, on 7 July, between Seraing and Cambrai over a distance of 140.8 km, went through four provinces and sixteen police zones. Six hundred police officers were deployed. The King attended the start in Seraing.
