The Gentse Feesten took place from 18 to 26 July this year. As in previous years, the Ghent Railway Police (SPC) organised the Pickpocket action against pickpockets. During this action, SPC Ghent carried out 320 hours of police surveillance, specifically aimed at pickpocketing.

Four reports were drawn up concerning illegal residence, 4 reports concerning suspicious behaviour and 2 reports concerning a person regarding whom an alert was issued. For the first time, a cooperation was set up with the East Flemish police academy: 16 trainee inspectors took part in the Pickpocket action for one or several days during their training. This cooperation was a big success thanks to the dedication of the SPC Ghent staff, who welcomed the trainees enthusiastically.

Other partners involved in the Pickpocket action include the Immigration Office, De Lijn, SPC Antwerp, SPC Leuven and the local police of Ghent.
