Ministerial visit to Computer Crime Unit
3 September 2015
Minister of Security and Home Affairs Jan Jambon and Minister of Justice Koen Geens visited the Computer Crime Unit of the Federal Judicial Police of Brussels. This visit was organised at the request of both competent ministers, who wished to better understand the functioning and the needs of this specialised unit, which had prepared a series of presentations and demonstrations of their know-how. The aim was to meet police officers in the field to discuss the initiatives that have to be taken to combat cybercrime even more effectively. Cybercrime requires specific means: powerful computers, appropriate and up-to-date software, ad hoc training and appropriate and modern legislation.
This working visit reflected the government’s wish to invest in the security and police services.
