Kick-off of the RPAS@police project
24 September 2015
As it is impossible to imagine life today without Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) or drones, and to answer within the Integrated Police to the numerous questions and challenges with respect to drones, a study group has been created with representatives of the Local and Federal Police. This initiative has been taken on the basis of the many years’ aviation expertise of the Directorate of Air Support (DAFA), which pilots both literally and figuratively the project. The purpose is to allow this study group, with a central contact point within DAFA, to become a knowledge and expertise centre with regard to drones.
The study group is active within four major fields: legislation and enforcement, training, research & development and operations. In the periodic newsletter RPAS@police, the study group communicates about evolutions and realisations within the project.
