The new basic training programme to become inspector of police was launched in all accredited schools. This programme is divided into two parts of respectively two and ten months. The first part, which includes two eliminatory examination sessions, came to an end in January 2016 and the percentage of failing trainee inspectors (8 %) showed, among other indicators, the (higher) level of requirements. Apart from that, the new dual apprenticeship system during 328 hours, which replaces the three work placements, is also on course. This system has required close collaboration between the schools and the entities of the Integrated Police, in particular with respect to planning and goals to achieve. The first feedback was encouraging and both the schools and the entities took up the challenge of combining, sometimes in a delicate manner, a common educational policy and relative adaptation to local characteristics and needs. An evaluation and follow-up platform made up of the schools and the Training and Knowledge Management Unit has been active since November 2015 to draw lessons as this first academic year of implementation progresses.
