1 October 2015

From 1 October 2015 onward, the intervention teams of the Brussels Railway Police are directed by the Brussels Communication and Information Centre (CIC). This measure enables the Railway Police to work in a uniform manner as the intervention teams of the posts in the provinces are also directed by the CICs.

Concretely, this means that from 1 October 2015 onward, all citizens, partners, etc. who want to report a situation requiring an urgent police intervention have to contact the 101 emergency number. Subsequently, the CIC will direct the Railway Police intervention teams in the field and continue to support them during the entire intervention.

The operational command centre (RAMCO), where also the camera images of both the Belgian National Railway Company and the Brussels Public Transport Company (metro network) are viewed, will – if necessary and through the CIC – render assistance to the intervention teams in the field.

RAMCO continues to direct the other teams of the Brussels Railway Police, more precisely the teams in charge of community policing, the combating of criminal phenomena (pickpocketing, robberies, etc.) and public order.
