Large-scale police checks in the Antwerp border region

On Thursday 5 November 2015, Belgo-Dutch police and inspection services carried out large-scale and cross-border police checks in the Antwerp district and the Zeeland/West-Brabant Police Region. The Belgian police checked 913 vehicles and 223 individuals. Six drivers had taken drugs and seven people were in possession of drugs.
Members of six Belgian Police Zones took part in the large-scale Taxandria operation: Grens, Balen-Dessel-Mol, Kempen NO, Noorderkempen and Regio Turnhout. They were assisted by staff of several Federal Police departments, among which the Directorate of Dog Support, the Intervention Corps and the Directorate of Air Support. The Antwerp Coordination and Support Directorate coordinated the operation, which was supported by Customs and Excise and the FASFC.
