Foreign Terrorist Fighters training

On 12 and 13 November 2015, an FTF training (Foreign Terrorist Fighters) was organised in each District Communication and Information Service (SICAD). A SICAD member taught his colleagues of the district and of the police zones how to make operational use of the FTF application as from the beginning of January 2016. This initiative was launched because Minister of Security and Home Affairs Jan Jambon wished to develop tools by means of which fighters in conflict zones, such as Syria, can be followed. It was also his intention to stimulate the integrated nature of the functioning of the various departments combating this phenomenon, by making use of a national database among other things.

This train-the-trainer training is the result of a fine collaboration between the Kortrijk SICAD and the Directorate of Police Information and ICT Resources of the Federal Police.
